02. Second Voyage: Indian Ocean Circumnavigation
With a large volunteer crew on board, the Heraclitus circumnavigated the Indian Ocean from Darwin to Bali, then to Singapore, where it underwent its first major overhaul. The ship next sailed to Malaysia, Thailand, the Maldives, and Kenya. Turning east again, the Heraclitus sailed to Kerala, Sri Lanka, and again to Singapore, where the crew performed coral reef studies with the University of Singapore. Sailing on to Surabaya and Bali, the crew and fellow members of the international touring repertory company, Theatre of All Possibilities, exchanged performances with Balinese dance masters in Denpasar. The Heraclitus completed its second voyage with its arrival in Broome, in Northwest Australia.
